UAE PUBLIC POLICY FORUM 2018

Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum ‐ Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, Mohammed Bin Rashid School of Government (MBRSG) holds the third edition of the UAE Public Policy Forum. In partnership with the Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Authority in UAE (FCSA), the forum will focus on the emerging accelerating dynamics for implementing the SDGs in the age of the “4th Industrial Revolution”. As a policy and knowledge platform, the forum will address policy implications, challenges, responses and future sustainable development prospects in the UAE. It will also discuss the potential policy challenges and responses in the UAE with the objective of drafting a high-level “policy roadmap” for the UAE’s 2020-2030.

OVERVIEW
As governments around the world seek to provide a growing population with the required public services and infrastructure, there is an increased interest in using Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) as a solution. In the UAE, the PPP framework that is evident ¬acknowledges and structures the role for government as one that ensures that social obligations are met through successful sector reforms and public investments alongside private sector engagement. This participatory model holds vast potential and requires policy adaptation to optimize the mutual benefits to the public and private sectors as well as citizens.

ABOUT THE ORGANIZERS
Mohammed bin Rashid School of Government is a research and teaching institution focusing on public policy and effective governance in the Arab world. Established in 2005 under the patronage of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai, in cooperation with the Harvard Kennedy School, the School aims to promote good governance through enhancing the region’s capacity for effective public policy.
