Parental Involvement in the Education of Their Children in Dubai

Many parents have the opinion that the education of their children is the sole responsibility of schools. Research has consistently shown that parents can also play an important role. This policy brief discusses some of the international research and, in addition, examines the impact of increased parental involvement in the education and development of children, with a particular focus on Dubai. Rabaa Al Sumaiti is a Bilingual Inspector with Dubai Schools Inspection Bureau. She has significant experience in the development of Arabic language curriculum, international education and students’ personal and social education. Rabaa has a Masters of Education from the University of Bristol and is currently researching youth and national identity for her doctorate.
